The much-hyped Americans Elect has folded after trying - and failing miserably - to launch a third-party to compete with Democrats and Republicans. Given all of the complaints even Democrats and Republicans have about the two-party system, why hasn't it been possible to launch a credible third party? And I'm not talking about the occasional third-party candidate who rises up, such as Ross Perot, before fading. I'm talking about a party that competes year in and year out with the big boys.
