Rose Rock, Georgetown resident and mother of famed comedian Chris Rock, will be the featured speaker at the "Parenting on Purpose" fall parenting workshop in Conway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Conway High School.
Rock, author of "Mama Rock's Rules: Ten Lessons for Raising a Household of Successful Children," will deliver a keynote that address the importance of good parenting and the unique challenges parents face in the 21st century.
The workshop will also include small-group sessions focused on how to improve parenting skills, and dealing with school absenteeism and single-parent homes.
On another note: I will be participating in a dodge ball game to benefit the Special Olympics of South Carolina at 6 p.m. this evening (Friday) at St. James Middle School. If you've ever wanted to pop me in the mouth, this might be the second-best thing, given that I probably won't be able to move out of the ball's path very well because my I tweaked my left knee this morning during a run.
See you there.
If that's not enough for you, I'll be participating in the all-media event from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in the Hard Rock parking lot at Broadway at the Beach to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy. You can actually argue with me there, if you like, while you are (hopefully) providing a donation. I'm scheduled to be on the scene late morning to early afternoon, maybe 9 a.m. until noon.
