I thought I was a pretty bold columnist when I wrote for the Davidsonian at Davidson College in North Carolina. My work garnered a good bit of attention, so much so that some of my writings were taught in some classes at Davidson and elsewhere.
And I've advised a student-run newspaper at Coastal Carolina University. I was very laid back, reminding students that they needed to take risks, be bold, to do something that matters.
