Gov. Haley sets date for special election to fill Tim Scott's seat

Tim Scott will no longer be our Congressman in the House by tomorrow, and will no longer be in the House at all, given his appointment to replace Jim DeMint in the Senate.

The person who will fill Scott's seat in the 1st District, which used to include Horry County , will be decided on May 7, Gov. Nikki Haley has announced.

The betting man's money is on former Gov. Mark Sanford, who also served three terms in the House before he was South Carolina's governor. Sanford - who has not officially announced his candidacy - has a scandal to put behind him and other repairs to his image to make, though.

Tom Rice will begin representing our new district, the 7th, tomorrow.
