Frustrated S.C. parents force teen to hold sign that says 'I lie, steal and make bad grades'

This local TV station should be commended for doing a solid, layered, useful piece on a potentially sensational story.

Teen forced to stand on side of the road with sign that says "I lie, steal and make bad grades"

They humanized the parents - who are clearly trying to do everything they can to get through their son, not just trying to show him up - and brought in a broader perspective about the complexity of both parenting and being a teenager.

Well done.

My parents went through similar struggles with some of my siblings. Sometimes parents can do everything possible and their son or daughter decides to take a different path any way.

Anybody have useful suggestions for parents who find themselves in situations such as these?
