I now strongly regret having voted for Lindsey Graham to serve in the U.S. Senate on behalf of my native state, South Carolina.
He's helping to lead the charge in a nakedly-political ploy to try to pick who should serve as President Barack Obama's defense secretary while calling his objections principled.
It's laughable, really. He says he still has unanswered questions about the Libyan attack that killed 4 Americans. Every time he says he is doing this out of principle - I voted for him because I thought he always put principle above politics - I want to barf.
This is the same Graham who had no problem with nominees in the previous administration who helped lead us into Iraq on the huge mistaken assumption of weapons of mass destruction - and even talked of mushroom clouds being the smoking gun - as well as folks who were unable to prevent the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Somehow he is taking a "principled" stance over an event that has been debated and studied for several months - and had most of the outrageous myths propagated by Fox News and others shot down - one that ended in the deaths of 4 Americans, yet he couldn't muster half this outrage for bigger mistakes that lead to a decade-long war, thousands of American deaths and tens of thousands of dead Iraqis.
I hope he does get primaried next year. I'll vote for whoever goes up against him.
