North Carolina bill would add Bible study at public schools
If done well, these sorts of courses could be highly valuable and play an important role in a well-rounded curriculum for students.
Love it or hate it, the Bible is the most-widely published book in the history of the world and has had an impact on our literature like no other book. From that standpoint alone, it is more important than Shakespeare. The fear of these courses are that they won't be an in-depth study of the Bible and its enormous impact on the world, but instead will be a seminar to convert people to Christianity.
If that fear can be alleviated, the course is a good idea. But I know that's a big if.
