Several years ago in Conway we had a case in which a woman was convicted because she used drugs during pregnancy and she delivered a stillborn baby - even though the science is not clear about whether or not her drug use was the primary factor or a factor at all in that outcome.
What do you do when a woman uses illegal drugs during her pregnancy? Should she be charged with only illegal drug use and possession, or something more akin to manslaughter or neglect of a child? Or something else entirely?
