Injuries mounting for Chants

CONWAY | Coastal is limping into this week's matchup with Clemson and that has nothing to do with team's two-game losing streak.

The Chanticleers (3-4) could be without as many as two offensive, three defensive and one or more special teams starters in their first meeting with the Tigers. A litany of players were hobbled during Monday night's practice.

Starting quarterback Zach MacDowall (ankle), who wore a boot, and right guard James Sims (ankle) did not practice Monday. Coastal coach David Bennett listed MacDowall as questionable for Saturday, though he said Sims, who has suffered from numerous injuries during his career, will attempt to play.

Coastal's defense will be without three starters if strong safety Dominique Davenport (knee), Chief Quinton Davis (shoulder) and Bandit linebacker Chris Walls (unknown injury) are unable to play. Davenport and Walls did not practice Monday. Davis dressed for practice but was limited.

Davenport and Davis were injured Saturday against Stony Brook, but Walls did not play despite dressing against the Seawolves. Bennett listed Davenport and Davis as very questionable for Saturday's game. Walls' status is unknown.

Starting punt snapper Jamie Perkinson (shoulder) and kicker Justin Durham (unknown injury) also missed practice Monday.
