Fraser named All-American

CONWAY | Coastal Carolina fullback Tommy Fraser has been named a first-team All-American by The Sports Network, becoming just the second first teamer in school history.

Mapp joins staff

CONWAY | Coastal Carolina has made the first of three additions to its coaching staff.

Hofstra defensive line coach Kevin Mapp, who lost his job when the school dropped football earlier this month, has accepted an offer to join the Chanticleers, coach David Bennett said.

Coastal Carolina corner Josh Norman was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press Wednesday.

Coastal posts openings

Coastal officially posted the job advertisement for its three assistant football coaching vacancies on Monday. The school is seeking only candidates with previous Division I - either FCS or FBS - coaching experience. More than 100 resumes have already arrived for the position. Chants receive vote

Off to its best start since the early 1980s, Coastal Carolina's men's basketball team (8-2) received a vote in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll Monday.

Coastal seniors Joseph Harris and Logan Johnson did not start Saturday's win over Bridgewater, because they were late for a team meeting. There is nothing more to it than that. Both entered the game at the 15:41 mark of the first half and played more than 20 minutes each, combining for 32 points in a 91-42 win.

Another QB coming

Former Northwestern reserve quarterback Harrison Scott plans to transfer to Coastal Carolina, according to a blog post by the Dalton (Ga.) Daily Citizen. Scott, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, redshirted at Northwestern, where he was a walk on, in 2008 before leaving the program. He has been attending classes at Dalton State College, according to the report.
