N.C. State Postgame

I've been interviewing Gary Gilmore on and off for the last six years or so, and I've only seen him more proud of his team one time than I did after Sunday's win over N.C. State. That was after the Chanticleers clinched the 2008 Conway Regional.

Coastal Carolina is encouraging fans interested in attending Big South tournament games this week to add their names to the school's waiting list. Tuesday's opponent, VMI, and potential semifinal and final participants may not use their entire ticket allotment. That would free tickets to Coastal fans who were unable to purchase tickets initially. Coastal's ticket office can be reached at 843-347-8499 or 877-424-2687.

Here are the pairings for the Big South men's basketball tournament, which begins Tuesday:

VMI Postgame (& Pregame)

Get ready for a fun-and-gun rematch. When coupled with UNC Asheville's win over Gardner-Webb Saturday, Coastal's regular-season-ending victory over VMI ensured the Keydets would play in the Big South tournament.

UC Irvine Postgame

Coastal picked up two enormous wins over No. 6 UC Irvine Saturday, sweeping what might have been the biggest non-conference, non-postseason doubleheader in school history.

PG commits to Coastal

Coastal Carolina's women's basketball team has gained a commitment from Homestead (Ind.) junior Jena Jamrick, according to a report by the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Journal Gazette. The 5-foot-6 point guard averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.2 assists this season, leading her team to a 19-3 record.

As expected, the celebration was muted. I was even surprised to see the Chanticleers cut down the nets following Thursday's win over Liberty that clinched the Big South regular-season championship.
