MYRTLE BEACH | Coastal Carolina will open play in the NCAA Myrtle Beach Baseball Regional Friday (1 p.m.) against America East Champion Stony Brook.
The Chanticleers (51-7) are seeded first in the regional and fourth nationally. The Seawolves (29-25) are the fourth seed and the regional's underdog, but they are starting ace Nick Tropeano (8-3, 2.36 ERA), a quality, right-handed pitching prospect. Lefty Cody Wheeler (10-0, 4.05 ERA) will start for Coastal.
