Introduction

Greetings CCU fans and other followers of The Roost,

 

With Coastal Carolina football practice set to begin Wednesday and a new season not far away, I’d like to take a quick moment to introduce myself to those of you who turn to The Sun News and this blog for coverage of CCU athletics. My name is Ryan Young, and I am excited to step in as the newspaper’s new CCU beat writer, filling the void left by Josh Hoke - who I have heard only good things about from the Chanticleer community.

 

The plan is to continue the high level of CCU coverage you’ve come to expect, both in print and online. For those of you who have been faithfully checking The Roost for updates and new blog entries, they are on the way. I’ll be out at football practices all month bringing you whatever interesting news or updates don’t make it into the paper. Look for the blog to remain a vital part of our Chants coverage - of all sports - all year.

 

First, though, allow me to quickly introduce myself. I’m originally from Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2006. After an enjoyable four-year stay in Kansas City, I’m excited to be back on the coast. I grew up with the ACC, got a taste of the SEC as a college intern in Birmingham, Ala., and spent the last few years in Big 12 country. Now I’m excited about getting to know the Big South. After spending the last four years covering a little bit of everything as a sports reporter for the Kansas City Star, I look forward to focusing my attention on the Chants and becoming well-versed on all things Coastal Carolina. I have a passion for college sports, and I know many of you do as well.
