Chants well represented on all-Big South team

The Big South just announced its all-conference football team, and Coastal Carolina's late-season surge earned the Chanticleers quite a bit of recognition.

Sophomore linebacker Andrae Jacobs is the Big South defensive player of the year -- the first player in program history to earn that distinction. David Bennett is the conference's coach of the year for the second time in his CCU tenure.

Meanwhile, junior tight end David Duran, senior safety Dominique Davenport, junior cornerback Josh Norman and senior long snapper Danny Bonifas were named first-team all-Big South.

Senior quarterback Zach MacDowall, senior running back Eric O’Neal, senior receiver Brandon Whitley, senior left guard Seth Smalls, freshman left tackle Jamey Cheatwood, senior defensive lineman Kent Harper and freshman punt returner Niccolo Mastromatteo were named to the all-Big South second-team.

Check back later for player and coach reaction.
