In case you thought the Coastal Carolina and Western Illinois football programs had nothing in common as they prepare to meet in the first round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday, well, how about this:
San Diego Chargers punter Mike Scifres threw a 28-yard first-down pass to Mike Tolbert on a successful fake punt conversion in the first quarter of San Diego's Monday Night Football game with Denver.
Which is interesting because Scifres just happens to be one of the more notable alumns of the Western Illinois football program, and Tolbert, of course, is a former Coastal Carolina standout.
