**With National Signing Day arriving, The Roost will continue introducing Coastal Carolina's 2011 football recruiting class one by one.**
Craig Weick, a 6-foot-4, 211-pound tight end from Byrnes High School, was one of a number of players to commit early to Coastal Carolina and looks to be a player the Chanticleers could use in a variety of ways as a pass-catching playmaker.
"I think he's going to be awesome for [CCU]," Byrnes coach Chris Miller told The Sun News. "He'll definitely get involved with the offense."
Weick had an injury-plagued senior season for Byrnes as a broken foot limited him to 21 catches for 358 yards and three touchdowns. As a junior in 2009, he had 32 catches for 580 yards and 12 touchdowns.
"He's a big-time player making big catches," Miller said. "[He] runs routes very well, good downfield blocker, just knows the system, is smart about his routes and how to get open and how to make things happen."
As for choosing the Chants ...
"He made his decision so quick," Miller said. "I guess he just fell in love with Coastal. He went for a visit and came back and it was over with. ... He liked the school, liked the coaches and liked the system they were running."
