The 16 regional sites for the NCAA baseball tournament were revealed Sunday, and the rest of the 64-team field will be announced Monday at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Coastal Carolina knows it's in, but there are any number of options as to where the Chanticleers might be sent for the regional round.
The most logical of the 16 host sites for the Chants, geographically speaking, are:
South Carolina
Clemson
North Carolina (Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Georgia Tech (Atlanta, Ga.)
Other options on the eastern side of the country are:
Florida (Gainesville, Fla.)
Florida State (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Virginia (Charlottesville, Va.)
Vanderbilt (Nashville, Tenn.)
While the other eight locations, which can't be ruled out, are:
Texas (Austin, Texas)
Cal State Fullerton (Fullerton, Calif.)
Texas A&M (College Station, Texas)
Oregon State (Corvallis, Ore.)
TCU (Fort Worth, Texas)
Rice (Houston, Texas)
UCLA (Los Angeles, Calif.)
Arizona State (Tempe, Ariz.)
The Chants have stayed close to home the last four years, hosting the regionals in 2007, 2008 and 2010 while going to Chapel Hill, N.C., in 2009.
But they were sent to Tempe in 2005 despite being a No. 1 seed and were shipped to Lincoln, Neb., in 2003 as a No. 2 seed.
So there's no telling where exactly they might end up.
