Senior third baseman Scott Woodward is hoping to return to the top of Coastal Carolina's lineup this weekend as the Chanticleers host Radford for three games.
Woodward, who ranks second on the team with a .367 batting average and is 24-of-27 on stolen base attempts, missed the Chants' three-game set with VMI last weekend while nursing a bruised ankle he injured earlier last week at UNC Wilmington.
He was wearing a protective boot after the final VMI game Sunday, but he expressed confidence he will be back on the field -- and back on the base paths -- soon.
"It's day to day basically, just getting treatment every day and just going in the training room and doing rehab and all that stuff [to] get me healthy for next weekend," Woodward said Sunday. "... Next weekend's what we're shooting for. If not, the next weekend then."
The Chants (30-15, 14-4 Big South) were off the first two days this week after sweeping VMI last weekend. They will take a five-game winning streak into Watson Stadium on Friday night for the start of the Radford series.
