Tommy La Stella was named to another All-America team Thursday, increasing his haul of postseason honors after a standout junior campaign with Coastal Carolina.
The slugging second baseman was named a second-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association after also being honored as a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
That makes him the second consensus All-American in program history along with Mike Costanzo in 2005.
La Stella finished his junior season at CCU as the team leader in batting average (.398), runs (59), triples (four), home runs (14), RBIs (70) and slugging percentage (.680) and was named the Big South player of the year.
He was an eighth-round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves earlier this month and signed a contract with the organization to start his professional career and forgo his senior collegiate season.
The American Baseball Coaches Association also released its All-Atlantic Region teams Thursday. La Stella was named to the first team, while pitchers Anthony Meo and Matt Rein earned second-team honors.
Meo, who was drafted in the second round by the Arizona Diamondbacks, went 10-3 with a 2.16 earned run average and 115 strikeouts as a junior this season. Rein, who was named the Big South pitcher of the year, was 9-2 with a 2.07 ERA as a senior.
