Coastal Carolina has signed Michel Enanga, of Montverde Academy (Fla.), to its 2012 signing class.
Enanga is listed as a 6-foot-5 guard on the team’s roster, and Montverde coach Kevin Boyle said the Chants are getting a strong defensive player with the ability to contribute in a number of ways.
“He’s a scrappy kid,” Boyle said. “He’s about 6-6. He’s tough and strong, dives on the floor, takes charges, very good defensive player. On offense he’s solid. ... He’s not great in any asset of the game, [but] he’s pretty good in every asset.”
Boyle said Enanga, who also considered Manhattan and Jacksonville, is originally from Cameroon and formed a strong connection with first-year CCU assistant coach Mamadou N’Diaye -- a native of Senegal -- during the recruiting process.
“I think that was a good fit for him,” Boyle said. “He realizes the great job coach [Cliff] Ellis has done there ... so he sees the program is really on the rise.”
Ellis said he preferred not to comment on the signing until Coastal issued an official release. The CCU athletic department did confirm that it has received a signed National Letter of Intent from Enanga, though.
