CONWAY | Coastal Carolina has made the first of three additions to its coaching staff.
Hofstra defensive line coach Kevin Mapp, who lost his job when the school dropped football earlier this month, has accepted an offer to join the Chanticleers, coach David Bennett said.
Coastal officially posted the job advertisement for its three assistant football coaching vacancies on Monday. The school is seeking only candidates with previous Division I - either FCS or FBS - coaching experience. More than 100 resumes have already arrived for the position. Former Northwestern reserve quarterback Harrison Scott plans to transfer to Coastal Carolina, according to a blog post by the Dalton (Ga.) Daily Citizen. Scott, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, redshirted at Northwestern, where he was a walk on, in 2008 before leaving the program. He has been attending classes at Dalton State College, according to the report.
