I'd also like to thank music lover and former Sun News executive editor Trish O'Connor for giving me the time to create this column. Her trust in me and my crazy visions have made this blog possible. Without her there would be no Common Chords.

I've known Otis since I moved here in 2000. There's nothing I can say that truly reflects the amount of admiration and respect that everyone who has met him feels. He is a blessing to the area, and I'm proud to call him friend.

How about turning this series into a benefit concert for music education?
