Madelyn Connaughton, the little girl whose Make-a-Wish wish is coming true this week as she gets to watch the Extreme Home's build, got a gift from a kind spectator and his wife today.
Yesterday, as Joshua Baldwin was tagging along with a friend who shoots photos for the home builders, who shoulp pop up but "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" star Ty Pennington. He needed a hard hat, and Baldwin had one to loan.
This morning, Pennington returned the hat and when asked, autographed it for Baldwin's wife.
"She loves Ty," Baldwin said.
He had already called to tell his wife about the memento she could expect, but when he heard about Madelyn Connaughton, he called his wife back.
He wanted to know if he could give Madelyn the white hard hat Pennington had signed.
His wife said it was OK, so Baldwin tracked down Madelyn, 10, who was warming up in the VIP tent, and presented her with the gift.
She immediately tried it on, then made her dad, Norman, wear it while she took pictures of him.
The Connaughtons live in Granby, Mass., and Madelyn's mother, Terri, said she is going to have to figure out a way to get the hat home with its smearable autograph intact.
"I know what you're going to be wearing to school," she teased Madelyn.
