The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" food drive met the goal, raising a little more than 100 tons of food, officials announced after a weigh-in this afternoon.
The canned food weighed 100.16 tons -- just a tad bit more than the 100-ton goal.
The effort kicked off Dec. 28 and ended Monday, running in conjunction with the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" build.
The food drive was developed to restock food pantries in the Horry County where supplies have dwindled after the holidays because of increased need.
A weekend rush of donations helped organizers tip the scale; only 35 tons had been collected by Friday.
