Ten year-old Madelyn "Maddie" Connaughton, of Granby, Mass., never misses an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
She watches because she thinks host Ty Pennington is funny and she loves to hear the stories of the families who are helped.
But on Tuesday Madelyn got much closer to Pennington and the show than she'd ever dreamed. She got to meet Pennington in person.
Madelyn and her family were flown to Myrtle Beach by the Make-a-Wish foundation to meet the stars of the show, visit the production trailers and watch as the home was being constructed in Loris for an Horry County Police Officer and his family.
Madelyn has mitochondrial disease, which affects organs and systems that require lots of energy, like the brain, heart, kidney and respiratory systems.
"We don't know what the future holds, because the doctors don't know what the future holds," said her father Norman Connaughton. "It's one of the reasons we are here."
