Derrick and Amanda Suggs and their children arrived at their home on Cane Branch Road in the Allsbrook Community of Horry County at 2:30 p.m. today to see their new house.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's host Ty Pennington yelled 'move that bus' at 2:50 p.m. and the family saw the house for the first time as the show's RV was moved out of the family's view.
Amanda Suggs cried as the bus moved and she saw her new house for the first time. Her brother Jacob leapt into the air when he saw the new house.
The family met the builders and the show's design team out front before heading inside. The family will be inside the house filming for the next few hours.
About 5,000 people gathered to watch the reveal of the house according to Horry County. Some waited over six hours to see the home revealed to the family.
Today caps a week of nonstop construction and interior design by the Extreme team and volunteers, who have been working around the clock since last Monday to build a 3,500 square-foot, five-bedroom home for the Suggs.
NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is expected to be at the house today to show the Suggs' the BMX and Go-Kart tracks in their backyard.
ABC's television show featuring the Suggs family is expected to air in March.
The family spent the last week in Disney World in Orlando, Fla. and have not had access to telephones or the internet.
Derrick and Amanda Suggs adopted her siblings after the Department of Social Services threatened to put them in foster care due to neglect by her parents. In addition to raising six of her siblings, the couple also has two children of their own.
The family's old home - which was destroyed last week by crews - was built by Derrick's grandfather in 1943. It had a leaking roof, outdated and exposed electrical wiring, rotting foundation, and broken and cracked asbestos siding outside of the house.
