« Heritage tees off | Main | Walking around Harbour Town »

Weather watchers, Two Gloves and Boo's mom

If you are planning to attend the 40th Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, it might be worthwhile to check out a Web site I received in an email from Justin O'Neil of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in San Francisco. They provide hourly weather updates and forecasts for sporting events, including the Heritage. The service is free and details include temperature, humidity, chance of rain, wind, local real-time radar, an overhead satellite image of the course and localized Google maps for directions. The site is http://www.wunderground.com/sports/GLF/stadium/16:GLF?st=1208593800.

Tommy ``Two Gloves'' Gainey of Bishopville is cursing the 10th hole this afternoon. Gainey was 3-under par for the tournament through 27 holes but hit three balls into the water on the 10th and made a 10: ``I don't know what to say,'' Gainey said. ``I hit three shots in a row in the water. You don't want to make a big number and I made it.''

Having Boo Weekley, who puts the ``country'' in country club, at a tournament is entertainment enough, but the Heritage is twice as blessed this week because his mother, Patsy, is tagging along and even writing a daily diary for The Island Packet in Hilton Head. She sat in on Boo's press conference Friday and even played with him in the pro-am on Wednesday.
