Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson, coming off an 11th-place finish in the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship, tees off at 10:27 a.m. California time (1:27 p.m. on the East Coast) Wednesday on the PGA West Palmer Course in the first round of the Bob Hope. He is paired with amateurs Rafael Carrillo, Robert Cappell and Lynette Holmes as Team 78 (PP). Amateur group scores as well as individual pro scores can be checked on the PGA Tour Web site. Only a nine-hole group of players is in the celebrity rotation and Dustin is not part of that group.
Johnson told me the Hope and AT&T Pebble Beach celebrity and amateur events were among his favorites on tour last year because of the contacts he made, particularly executives of major corporations.
