Wind the players' nemesis Thursday at Harbour Town

It was a pleasant day for Thursday's opening round of the Verizon Heritage, with temperatures around 70 degrees and bright sunshine. It opened the door for some low scores. But a breeze that was consistently 15 mph and gusted to 25 mph or more gave players fits, particularly on the three closing holes along Calibogue Sound. Just ask Parker McLachlin and Buick Invitational and Honda Classic runner-up John Rollins both shot opening-round 80s. Rollins made three double bogeys and McLachlin shot a back-nine 41 and had three penalty strokes on three different holes. Trevor Immelman was ecstatic with a 5-under-par 66. ``[A 66] is a win, especially with this amount of breeze blowing,'' Trevor Immelman said. ``Winning score is never too far under par, so 5 under is a good start. You always expect wind here.''
