Mickelson returning next week

While wife Amy awaits breast cancer surgery, Phil Mickelson told Golf World's Tim Rosaforte in an interview he'll return to competition next week at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis as a tune-up for the U.S. Open. Mickelson appears to be basing his schedule on Amy's latest tests and an anticipated surgical date of late June or early July. Mickelson was a fan favorite the last time the U.S. Open was held at the Bethpage Black course in 2002 _ Tiger Woods won _ and he'll be even more popular and the undisputed favorite of the vocal New York galleries this time around.
