Johnson among strong field at Sony

Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson is paired with Retief Goosen and Mark Wilson in the first two rounds of the $5.5 million Sony Open in Hawaii, going off the 10th tee at Waialae Country Club at 12:40 in Thursday's opening round and off the first tee at 8:10 a.m. in Friday's second round.
Johnson is coming off a tie for 16th last week in the 28-player SBS Championship in Maui after shooting a 13-under 67-71-72-69-279 to earn an easy $110,000 to start his third PGA Tour season. Johnson has made eight consecutive cuts dating back to a missed cut at the British Open last July, finishing no worse than a tie for 30th during that stretch.
An impressive field includes defending champion Zach Johnson along with the four major champions from 2009. The 144-player field also features the returns of John Daly and Vijay Singh to the PGA Tour following injuries.
Golf Channel has live HD coverage of the Sony Open Thursday-Saturday from 7-10:30 p.m. ET, and Sunday from 7-10 p.m. ET, with replays beginning at 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
