Maness realizes huge payday with Haas

Aynor High grad Michael Maness just experienced his biggest payday in golf. It's not as a player, however. Maness has been the regular caddie for friend and roommate Bill Haas since last spring, and Haas just two-putted for a birdie on the final hole of the Bob Hope Classic to win by a stroke at 30-under par. It's Haas' first win on the PGA Tour at the age of 27.
The $5 million tournament paid Haas $918,000 for the win, and you have to figure Maness will get at least 8-10 percent of that. That's anywhere from $74,000 to $92,000, which might rival Maness' winnings in his few years on mini-tours. Looks like he may have just cemented a new career path.
