Drama set for weekend at Pebble Beach

You have to like the way the weekend is set up at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, especially if you're a resident of the Grand Strand. Other than maybe Tiger Woods playing better and being closer to contention, Lee Westwood having a better chance to finally win after finishing in the top three in each of the past three majors, and Tom Watson contending, you have just about all you want. And at least those three guys are still around for the weekend.
We've got Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson tied for second and two shots out of the lead on a course he's won on twice in the past 16 months, so he's a serious threat.
We've got Phil Mickelson, a five-time runner-up in the U.S. Open looking for his first Open title, tied with Johnson after a 66 Friday. Phil's a fan favorite and always makes things interesting on the weekend.
We've got Ernie Els, a genuinely great guy and two-time U.S. Open champion playing like he did in the U.S. Open 10 years ago and contending again.
We've got a phenom, 18-year-old Ryo Ishikawa, who shot a 58 in contention recently to win an event in Japan, right there with Els and Johnson. Can he stay with the leaders?
And we've got a world-class player in the lead, past Ryder Cup participant Graeme McDowell, looking for his signature major victory.
Should be a fun weekend at Pebble Beach.
