For everything Dustin Johnson lost Sunday at the PGA Championship, he gained quite a bit as well. Not the least of which is the respect of his fellow competitors, the media and undoubtedly golf fans around the world for the way he handled being assessed a two-stroke penalty that knocked him from a playoff at Whistling Straits.
After being informed of his two-stroke penalty for grounding his club in what was deemed a bunker, Johnson handled the news with dignity and class. He didn't overreact or throw a fit, didn't blame rules officials or anyone else, and spoke to the media calmly and with honesty.
Johnson comes out of the 2010 PGA Championship recognized as not only a great player but a great gentleman as well.
