Johnson finishes strong at East Lake

ATLANTA | Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson fired a 4-under-par 66 Sunday in the final round of The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club on Sunday to bolster his bid for a high finish in the FedExCup standings.

Johnson's 66 was his first under-par round at East Lake in his past seven rounds there and moved him into a tie for 23rd in the 30-player Tour Championship when play was suspended around 1 p.m. with 24 players remaining on the course.

Play resumed at 3 p.m., with Jim Furyk holding a one-shot lead over red-hot Nick Watney at 8 under. Furyk was through eight holes and Watney was through 11 -- having played his last 22 holes 10 under par.

At the time of the suspension of play, Johnson was projected to finish third in the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup, earning him a $2 million bonus in addition to his share of the tournament's $7.5 million purse, which is projected to be $133,500. If Johnson falls back in the FedExCup standings after the resumption of play, fourth pays $1.5 million and fifth $1 million.
