Things didn't get any better for Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson in the third round of The Tour Championship on Saturday.
Johnson shot his third consecutive over-par round at East Lake Golf Club In Atlanta with a 3-over 73 and dropped into 27th place in the 30-team event at 7-over 217. He is 15 shots behind leader Jim Furyk.
His chances for the $10 million bonus for winning the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup have essentially been dashed.
Johnson entered the $7.5 million Tour Championship -- the fourth and final playoff event -- second in points behind Matt Kuchar. He's projected to finish third in the FedExCup if the standings remain as they are today by the end of Sunday's final round.
Johnson will be flying to Wales Sunday night for his first Ryder Cup appearance.
