Blanks has shot at first PGA Tour win

Kris Blanks, who lived on the Grand Strand for seven years from 1996-2002, has a shot to win his first PGA Tour event Sunday.

Blanks is at 3 under in the Canadian Open and is tied for third, just two shots behind leader Bo Van Pelt. Blanks will be in the second-to-last group along with Andres

He finished second in the Puerto Rico Open for his only top-three finish on tour, but a similar feat this week in the Canadian Open would be more impressive considering the Puerto Rico event is played the same week as a World Golf Championships tournament so none of the top-ranked players in the world are entered.

Blanks, 38, is in his third year on the PGA Tour after persevering reach the highest level of the game, and is playing in his 73rd tour event.

I wish him luck, and inform you this will likely be the last blog post until August 4 or so since I'm on vacation. Golf and Fenway Park are included in the plans, so it should be a good break.
