Dustin Johnson teamed with Kuchar as U.S. surges at Ryder Cup

MEDINAH, Ill. | As expected and requested, Dustin Johnson has been teamed with Matt Kuchar by U.S. team captain Davis Love III in the afternoon fourball (best ball) matches Friday at the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club.

Johnson and Kuchar were both held out of the morning foursome (alternate shot) matches, which were split 2-2, and are facing Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer.

The Johnson-Kuchar pairing has a 1 up lead through four holes, as the U.S. team is leading three matches on the front nine and one is all square.

In the morning matches, Americans Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley defeated Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia 4 and 3, and Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson defeated Lee Westwood and Francesco Molinari 3 and 2.

Europeans Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell defeated Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker 1 up after squandering a three-hole lead with six to play and winning the 18th hole, and Ian Poulter teamed with Justin Rose to defeat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker 2 and 1.
