Web.com Tour Championship decision expected this weekend

Web.com Tour director of communications Jeff Adams told me that an announcement will likely be made this weekend regarding the site of next year's Web.com Tour Championship -- the fourth of four season-ending playoff-like events that will determine 50 cards on the 2014 PGA Tour.

The 2012 Web.com Tour Championship is being played this week at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The site that is named will likely host the tour championship for the next three years considering the three events that will precede the tour championship all have three-year contracts beginning in 2013.

Daniel Island Resort outside Charleston has been considered a candidate to host the tournament, but executives there believe Web.com executives want to have it near their headquarters in the Jacksonville, Fla., area, where the PGA Tour is also based.

Daniel Island hosted the tour championship from 2009-11, but it moved to TPC Craig Ranch in 2012 because tour and Daniel Island executives didn't want to try to host the event just a couple months after the PGA Championship was held at nearby Kiawah Island.
