Johnson has a fill-in caddie for the next two weeks

Dustin Johnson will have TaylorMade-adidas golf vice president Keith Sbarbaro caddying for him this week as he attempts to defend his FedEx St. Jude Classic title, as well as next week at the U.S. Open at Merion.

Johnson’s full-time caddie, Bobby Brown, is expecting the birth of a child any day, according to several media reports, and won’t be available for at least the two week stretch.

Sbarbaro and Johnson are friends, and the TaylorMade executive has quite a bit of experience caddying for Johnson in the past, including at the Presidents Cup in 2011 after Joe LaCava left Johnson to caddie for Tiger Woods, and earlier that year in Korea and Germany.

Johnson is paired with Brandt Snedeker and Davis Love III, the Ryder Cup captain of the two players last year, in the first two rounds at the TPC Southwind in Memphis. They go off the first tee at 1:27 p.m. Thursday and should be heavily featured in Golf Channel’s coverage from 3-6 p.m. with a replay from 8:30-11:30 p.m.

Johnson and Snedeker are coming off missed cuts at the Memorial last week and Thursday’s opening round will be just the fourth round since the Masters for Johnson, who has been battling left wrist and back ailments.
