One of the NCAA's best 3-point shooters of all time has landed another job overseas.
Former Coastal Carolina star Jack Leasure, of Rochester, N.Y., informed me late Saturday night that he had signed a contract to play professional basketball with the Taranaki Basketball Club of the New Zealand NBL.
Leasure, who played professionally last year in Austria - and had a nice year there from what he told me this past summer - was overseas vying for a gig in Germany early this month, but said it fell through. He was planning on coming back to the beach by the end of the month, but those planned have abruptly changed.
Leasure said the "season is during their winter so it starts in March, but I leave on Monday for preseason until July."Leasure is the Big South Conference's and Coastal Carolina's all-time leader with 411 career 3-pointers while in Conway for four years. He finished his final season fourth in NCAA history in the stat.
Leasure, a former academic All-American, was working for the Manzer Basketball Academy in Myrtle Beach, which was founded by former Coastal player Colin Stevens and former Chanticleers assistant coach John Bennett, this past summer.
