Former West Brunswick (N.C.) High School and North Carolina State standout Cedric Simmons has been difficult to track in the last year. He was in the NBA last season, went to the NBA Development League late in the year after being traded, became a free agent after the season, went to Greece, came back to the D-League, and now is in China!
Simmons, who put up good numbers night-in and night-out for the NBDL's Idaho Stampede after returning to the D-League, abruptly disappeared from the Stampede's box scores recently. Now apparently he has gone back overseas, this time to China, according to www.idahostatesman.com.
Going overseas is a tough decision, plenty of guys who have gone that route have told me. Being in the D-League means you're a step away from the NBA. Going overseas means more money, a place to live and transportation for free - at least in all cases I've heard of.
But, what I hear from guys who know the situation, they say: It is a business.
Good luck, Ced.
