Former Coastal Carolina standout and Grand Strand resident E.J. Gallup will make his return to professional basketball Friday when the Alabany Legends host the Kankakee Soldiers to open play in the 2011 International Basketball League season.
Gallup two years ago was a star player in Germany before taking a year off to tend to a business he opened in Myrtle Beach. His intentions were to return to playing last year, but he wound up taking the year off. Now, Gallup, who moved back to his hometown in Gloversville, N.Y., will play for his local team.
The Legends last month held "E.J. Gallup Night" in which the Legends played a Blue-Gold exhibition game at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The night was dedicated to welcoming Gallup back to his native Upstate New York.
