AKEEM HEMINGWAY’S 2ND ANNUAL
SHOOTING FOR SUCCESS “DREAM CLASSIC”
MYRTLE BEACH, SC., (June 10, 2011) –Myrtle Beach’s hometown hero Akeem Hemingway is hosting his 2nd Annual Akeem Hemingway’s “Shooting for Success” Dream Classic, a Men’s Basketball Tournament, June 18-19 at Myrtle Beach High School. The Dream Classic will showcase impressive talent nationwide, filled with exciting challenges.
Akeem Hemingway, a former college standout player at University of Missouri-Kansas City and recent Tijuana Zonkie’s, created Shooting for Success to help keep the youth off the streets and help them capture a better outlook on life. Nine out of ten kids that participate in sports think that they are going to make it to the professional level. However, that is not the case. “I have been through the process and was blessed to play on the professional level. I know the odds, so I preach to our youth on how to be successful in life” says Akeem Hemingway, Founder and Director of the Shooting for Success organization and its events.
“This is such a great win for the Myrtle Beach community”, said Ramone Sessions, Cleveland Cavalier’s Guard and cousin of Hemingway, who be present again this year as a participant and supporter. Hemingway just recently held his 2nd Annual Youth Basketball Camp last month at the Pepper Gedding Recreation Center, continues to cultivate relationships with his hometown community and businesses, yet more so for the youths.
This year’s special invited guests includes Ramon Sessions, Cleveland Cavaliers; Raymond Felton; Denver Nuggets, Dale Davis; Former NBA All Star and Anthony Johnson; Orlando Magic (Free Agent), to name a few. These all-star athletes will share their time to speak to and motivate our youth.
“My efforts in these charitable events continue to be valuable for the beautiful city of Myrtle Beach through the economic impact and the exposure they bring to the city”, a very proud and humble Hemingway states. Team Hemingway looks forward to continuing these great events, working with city, the schools, the communities and of course, the youth.
