CCU-High Point Game 1

The Chanticleers are debuting some new home whites tonight, from the press box they appear look a bit like the Arizona Diamondbacks jerseys if you substitute teal for maroon …. With Bobby Gagg out tonight (strained oblique) Joey Haug gets the call. Haug is 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA ….. Winds are brisk out to left center tonight, good day to be a ground ball pitcher

Second inning update …. After Dock Doyle’s opposite field home run gave Coastal a 1-0 lead after one, a catcher interference call on Doyle gave Max Fulginiti another chance and he took advantage driving home Randy Schwartz with a base hit.

took the lead a few pitches later as Pablo Rasario drove home Fulginiti with a base hit. … Did we mention the wind will be a factor? A Chance Gilmore routine fly out has drifted into a three-run home run to give Coastal a 4-2 lead after two.

Haug goes 5.1 innings, 11 hits, 5ks

McCully relieved him and allowed three runs to place the Chants in a 6-4 hole after eight. CCU rallied to tie in the ninth and send the game to extras … Baldridge singled home Woodward to win it for Coastal in 11.
