There is still much petroleum left underground in the world, there is still even more natural gas left, and the amount of coal is very substantial indeed.
All of these fossil fuels are very deep underground, or deep under water, however - one place being in the Gulf of Mexico which is more 8,000 feet deep!
Now the irony of all this is that all three of the fosil fuels were made by plants that were covered up rapidly by silt and/or dirt.
There is only one way in which this may have happened, however, and that is by a massive amount of soil in the atmosphere which rapidly floated down on most everywhere on the earth, and covered almost everything.
Since there is only one event which could have caused this massive destruction, and that is a rather large meteor - or comet - stricking the earth, causing massive clouding of the atmosphere with silt and/or dirt.
Scientists also now believe that a super large meter struck what is now the Gulf of Mexico, and that would explain why there is oil over 8,000 feet deep under the water there.
If it hit in what is the Gulf of Mexico today, it would also explain why the Gulf is so deep in certain spots where the oil may be found.
If anyone is interested in learning more about this, you may read about it in the "Scientific American."

This is the same stupid post that you posted under "Dirty little secret catches up with TV and Radio news" yesterday. JED, don't you have any "original" thoughts?

Rick's tone is a mite nasty but he's right: Repetitive posts are not kosher. Have something new (and hopefully interesting) to say with each new comment. Otherwise, we're letting our audience down.

As I stated many times I live in Charleston. If tourism to Myrtle Beach falls off it will not be mine or my wife's fault. Saturday we bought a brand new 4cyl. Suv just to haul back the purchases we plan to make in November from Myrtle Beach. It is our tenth wedding anniversity and we plan to have the time our life in Myrtle Beach, high gas prices and all.
Just to show you what we do on a daily basis, My wife was selling the salesman on the benefits of coming to Myrtle Beach instead of Disneyland. She even had a Broadway at the Beach brochure that she gave the salesman. When he started talking about the rides for the kids she told him about Hard Rock. Since the salesman smoked I told him that Myrtle Beach was much more smoker friendly, ( as of today ) than Florida. When we were finished the salesman agreed to drive to Myrtle Beach at least for a weekend. Whether he will or not I don't know but at least we made the effort.
While we are at it, my wife who refuses to come on the blog, had an interesting take on the biker controversy. She was born in Loris and spent much of her childhood there. She says as long as she could remember the bikers have looked forward to coming to Myrtle Beach, it was an annual thing. She and I agree that the bikes are loud and annoying, but she thinks that the city should reach some kind of compromise with the bikers. The reason is these bikers go all over the place and word of mouth advertising is still the best form of advertising. Anyway that is her take on it. I will finish were I started, If the tourism is down it will not be our fault because we are two loyal visitors that you can count on!

So the Grand Strand opens a brand new theme park in the summer of 2008 and they are going to create jobs for the locals, wow that is great, then why are the locals' hours being cut at the Hard Rock Theme Park? But our exchange students can continue to work 40 hours, taking hours away from South Carolina's own students, recent graduates and other locals that work there trying to provide for their families. What a great theme park, what a wonderful opportunity for all of the foreign exchange students.

Wouldn’t it be nice if are political leaders actually knew something about science. The only thing they know is if I vote this way, this money group will help me. Or I can vote that way and they will support me. Its pretty simple oil addiction has finally reached its bottom. At this point it is too late. Oil Is Death. Are only hope is to stop using internal combustion where ever possible. Every thing must switch to electricity, supplied by wind, solar, regeneration, hydro, nuclear and any other means possible. Coal and oil are not the answer. We must use electric devices that have sealed bearings and no oil to cool or lubricate. The process of creating this new power infustructor may help to save use from falling rapidly into a deep depression which may be inevitable, but we must try. And even if it is too late to save the environment we could at least maintain are existence for a while longer. Just earlier this week there was a report called dead zone could be largest in history. They blame the increased use of nitrogen fertilizers as farmers along the Mississippi River plant more corn to produce ethanol for from corn.
It is not like are trusted leaders are young, intelligent, educated, scientists. They seam to be preoccupied with there petty pet projects and fail to see the big picture. Just look at Santee Cooper constantly trying to cram there obsolete, uneconomical, dirty coal fired power plants down are throat. Once it is built they will raise the power rates by more than 60 percent. If we were to build a nuclear plant now it could not only reduce emissions but power cost would remain stable for decades to come. Its time that are out of touch politicians stop supporting the good old boy that have bought and paid for them and start listening to the younger educated students and scientist who have the facts. We no longer need a group of out of touch con men spreading there lies. Both of are presidential candidates fail to grasp the big picture.

Dreamer:
I read Barock Obama's comments about such things a foreign policy, alternative energy devlopment, welfare, etc., before he began to run for Presidents seat again McCain.
He sounded much like what you want.
However, to win the Presidency he must say what the majority of the voters want to hear - and that is a bit different than what he said before. Almost every politician does this!
I believe that if he wins, however, he will return to the concepts you are in favor of.

It is "our" not "are". One must be a pirate! Who is a serial misspeller you ask?
Posted by: Patrick Hill | July 22, 2008 at 08:42 PM
I'll ask it again. "Can I fly in your dreams?"
Posted by: Patrick Hill | July 22, 2008 at 08:44 PM
Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said "Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
You know, - Well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do

On your first post on this page a (.) is supposed to go inside of the quotation marks. You muffed it, however!
On your second post on this page, the (?) goes outside of the quotation marks.
You muffed it again!
And to top it all off, you are criticizing someone's grammer in so doing!!!
My oh my oh my!

JED: Osama Obama has flip flopped so many times since his campagne started you don't know what he stands for. He is a phoney baloney. A fake, fraud, and a liar. He is NOT the kind of person we need as president. He in short is a BS artist! A con artist with NO experience worth anything. He is a joke. He is just trying to say to people what they want to hear. He is not sincere at all.

I read dictinary, not whatever.

Patrick:
If Obama does't meet some kind of tragic end, I predict that he will be one of this country's greatest presidents.

Patrick and JED: Take it outside. The mututal prosecution of some obviously touchy issues between you two is tedious and boring. If you want to comment on the issues, fine. But find some other forum for working out your personal differences.
