Today's editorial analyzes the decision by four GOP S.C. congressman to oppose a stimulus bill that contains good things for South Carolina:
The Republican members of the S.C. congressional
delegation profess to love the potential benefits to South Carolina of
an economic stimulus package. Nonetheless, all four Republican House

Today's editorial explains how hard times require a different approach to a common local question: Should existing residents or new residents finance the public improvements made necessary by growth?

loan from the federales?" -- Letter to the editor
A
lot of laid-off workers around our state are getting messages similar
to the one above: We can't help you right now because the system is
embroiled in political controversy.

Today's editorial argues (without great enthusiasm) that mounting a responsible stimulus plan would be a better course for Congress than doing nothing to intervene in our dying economy:
What's the difference between pork-barrel
spending and economic stimulus? Economic stimulus is pork-barrel
spending with an important purpose: increasing the speed with which
money circulates through American communities, thereby thawing their
frozen economies and stalling out the recession.
