Life for dc after Opinion Blog, newspapers

Friends: I may be retiring from The Sun News at the end of this week, but that doesn't mean my journalistic work life is over. I'll probably be doing something of an ink-stained-wretch nature (even if the "ink" is pixels) -- but I don't yet know what that will be or when I'll be doing it. I have found it impossible both to wind up my job at the newspaper, and as proprietor of Opinion Blog, and to plan for the future. My poor brain just won't allow it.

But I'm confident that once I'm out and have time to envision the future, my brain will begin to work better. One possibility for the future, as I have said before, could -- repeat, could -- be a local independent blog of some sort, perhaps like this one or perhaps more elaborate. I'm not yet ready to commit to such a project, my most pressing need now being to relax and do a bit of traveling with my dear wife.

But I would like to build up a database of e-mail addresses for those OB participants who might want to participate in a new independent web venture. Interested parties need only send a blank e-mail to wdclements@yahoo.com. I'll complie the e-mail addresses I receive into a database for possible future use. At the very least, I'll update those who send me e-mail addresses on my plans, even if they don't include a blog.

Thanks, dc
