It Reeks of Desperation

By Richard L. Wolfe

(Somewhere in a high school Economics 101 class) The teacher stood up from behind her desk and said, “Barack why didn’t you hand in your assignment?” Barack replies, “My dog Bushy ate my assignment Mrs. Teaberry.” Mrs. Teaberry frowns and says, “This is the third time this month that Bushy has eaten your work; maybe you should consider getting another dog.” Barack bristles at the thought of losing his favorite pet and says, “But, I love Bushy. Besides, if I get rid of him, I won’t have any excuse for not getting my work done.” Mrs. Teaberry has had enough and tells Barack, “Whether, you get rid of Bushy or not, if you want to receive a passing grade you are going to have to finish your assignments on time-and no more excuses! Class is dismissed!”

From almost the moment he was sworn in until now, President Obama and his salivating scribes in the press have given us nothing more than an exploding debt and a litany of excuses as to why nothing is his fault. They have used the “it is Bush’s fault,” mantra so many times that it is just as bankrupt and devoid of credit as the nation is becoming. Then there is the party of “NO” excuse, even though the Democrats held large majorities in the House and Senate. Then the nation learned that the “Moderate” President that they thought they had elected was in fact a closet Socialist. They first tried to deny it, but when the angry populace took to the streets to voice their displeasure, the Democrats and the press turned on them. In fact, anyone who cried “foul” at what the administration and the Congress were trying to do was attacked. At first it was Fox News, talk radio and right wing bloggers on the internet. Then when the Tea Party began to protest the direction that the administration was taking us, they were attacked. First it was Nancy Pelosi, calling them “astroturf”. Then CNN went out of its way to try and paint the protesters as racist. Time magazine tried to rescue the agenda by placing on its cover, “We are all Socialists Now.” But, the public was having none of it because we live in a Capitalistic country. When ordinary citizens, understandably angry over the government health care grab, showed up to give their representatives an earful, they were ignored by the Democrats and assailed in the press as GOP plants. But, GOP plants didn’t elect Scott Brown in Massachusetts and Chris Christie in New Jersey.

The election of a Republican governor and a Republican senator in two of the nation’s bluest states should have been a signal to slow down, regroup, and start over, but there is no arrogance like the arrogance of power. Instead of listening to the public, the Democrat brain trust got behind closed doors and developed a scheme to jam the Health Care Bill down America’s throat. This was the Climatic Point that cost the President and his party the nation’s support. On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Health Care Reform Bill into law and, as it turned out, made Senator Demint a prophet because it is turning out to be not only his but also his party’s Waterloo. In nearly every poll taken since then, the President’s and the Democrats’ numbers have been heading south. In fact, the legislation is so unpopular that Democrats who voted against the bill are running campaign ads bragging about how they stood up to Reid, Pelosi, and Obama, while those who voted for the bill are not anxious to talk about it, let alone put it in a campaign ad.

In drama, there is a five act play known as Frey tag’s Pyramid that breaks a play or a story into five sections. These sections are known as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and denouement or revelation/catastrophe. Obama and the Democrats have followed this script to the letter. For a quick recap, the President and the Democrats were exposed as extreme left wing ideologues which resulted in the rising action that the public demonstrated in the Tea Party, town halls, and elections. The climax came when the Democrats forced an unpopular, unconstitutional health care law down the nation’s throat, and the falling action is the polls where the public has voiced their displeasure. All that remains is the denouement-or a better word would be catastrophe-that November 2, 2010 will be for anyone running on the Democrat slate. So, instead of this childish attempt to flip the script, why not just be responsible for once and accept the fruits of your labor. If you still feel the need to blame someone, just go out and buy a mirror because all these low class attempts to place the blame elsewhere really reeks of desperation!
