Longer lines at the polls

Conventional wisdom tells us that fewer and fewer people are voting in elections these days. Back in the good old days, people used to care about their leaders and take part in the democratic process. Now these young'uns just don't care anymore. Etc. But a new tool out today from the Census Bureau helps explode that idea. The statistics aren't brand new, but the tool is very helpful for visualizing voting trends over time. In South Carolina, for instance, voting in presidential elections has actually increased in recent years:

With this year being another presidential election year, there's a good possibility it'll go up again. And that's good news.
